Meet Julie
Julie Wynne has been a California State Board Licensed Acupuncturist since 1997. She is also certified in Chinese Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture from the NCCAOM - National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She has been working in wholistic medicine since 1990, first as a massage therapist then as an acupuncturist. Julia was introduced to wholistic medicine in childhood by her mother, who was a therapist.
Julie received her Master's degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine with honors, from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in 1997. Her undergraduate studies were at Friends World College in New York and East Africa where she majored in Video art/production and African Studies. She is a level one Sat Nam Rasayn Practitioner (a meditative Tibetan healing technique she has been learning since 1997) and a mother of two boys.
Julie Wynne is also an accomplished painter.
In Traditional Oriental Medicine there’s a belief that it’s important for a healer to be well rounded. In addition to medicine, many study literature, calligraphy, poetry, martial arts and painting.
Several years ago I started painting. My current paintings reflect my love of nature, the environment and mysticism. Personally, I find the vibrant colors of oil painting and the meditative process of painting up lifting. For the viewer, I feel the brilliant colors used in my paintings are healing. I’m grateful to my teacher Andrea Rushing, in San Diego, CA.
My background as an artist: During my childhood in New York I always took art classes in school and as a teen studied avant-garde video art. I was fortunate to be able to attend Media Studies in Buffalo, NY and work with experimental video and filmmakers in New York City. When I moved to East Africa at age 18 I gained wisdom from my experiences there, but stopped creating. I have made time in my life again to focus on creativity.
